Google Maps has spent the past year deleting all reviews for dozens of ICE jails, a new study documented by The Intercept found. The erasure scrubs public testimony from the only platform many detained people can reach, silencing the caged at the click of a corporate button.

Brandon Booth, an employee of the GEO Group at the Aurora ICE Processing Center, used his personal firearm to shoot at protesters who were blocking his entrance to the facility. A private contractor's worker brought a gun to work and opened fire on people demonstrating at the gates. The GEO Group profits from the detention machine; its employee's gunfire shows the armed enforcement behind the bureaucratic disappearance of witness.
